After significant consideration, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the 47th World Wiffle Ball Championship. Based on what the city is still facing, including the potential for more storms and torrential rain through the weekend, we feel it is in the best interest to look for another weekend to hold the tournament.  We know how disappointing this is, and also that all 48 teams will not likely be able to attend when the tournament is rescheduled.

Thank you to the captains that we had discussions with over the last 24 hours.  We floated an idea of having the tournament next weekend at the Crown Point Sportsplex, but with the considerable loss of teams available next week and lingering concerns about the situation in Crown Point, we felt that it was not a viable option.

We are going to regroup over the coming days to attempt to find a date and location to hold the 47th WWBC in September or October.  We really appreciate everyone’s understanding and the kind words that you have shared with us over the last 24 hours.  We remain committed to making this tournament happen this year because of what it means both to you, and to us.

Additionally, our new charity partner this year, The Humane Society of Hobart, was also hit very hard by Tuesday’s storms. The WWBC will be advancing a $1,000 donation to them today to assist with their efforts to get back on their feet.  If you are able, please consider helping them out as well – their website is hshobart.org.
