We’re now only 7 weeks from the 45th World Wiffle® Ball Championship, August 17-18, in Crown Point!

Teams from 7 states have entered already – so it’s time to preserve your spot in the World’s longest-running Wiffle® bash.

Deadlines to be aware of:

  • July 19 – Last day to register and get WWBC shirts with the entry
  • August 11 – Final day to register

A big thanks to Mayor Pete Land and his staff for welcoming the World Wiffle® Ball Championship to Crown Point and sitting down to talk wiffle a couple weeks back. We also toured the Crown Point Sportsplex, which is going to be an exceptional venue for the WWBC. The rooftop patio that will overlook the fields, and specifically the Championship Game field, should be a popular spot all weekend.

Our July newsletter will be dedicated to highlighting the City of Crown Point and sharing some things to do when you’re not wiffling during WWBC weekend.

Dillinger’s Ties to Wiffle

Crown Point, Indiana is well known for the time that notorious criminal, John Dillinger, spent in and escaped from the Crown Point Jail in 1934. We dug up some facts that loosely tie Dillinger to the game of wiffleball and the WWBC.

Like many of the game’s greats, Dillinger was born in Indiana in 1903. After his release from his first jail stint in 1933, Dillinger performed the first of several bank robberies in New Carlisle — however, not the home of two future World Wiffle® Ball Champions in Indiana, but in Ohio. After his daring escape from the Crown Point Jail, Dillinger underwent several plastic surgeries in an attempt to evade recapture. Of course, he famously met his demise outside a movie theater in Chicago later in 1934.

Clutch Heads Another List

The defending WWBC champions also have the most tournament wins since 2014 – here’s a look at the teams with at least 20 wins in the last decade.

2024 Hall of Fame Class

Currently, the World Wiffle® Ball Championship Hall of Fame consists of 42 of the game’s greats from the last six decades. At this year’s opening ceremonies on Saturday morning, we will proudly induct three additional members to Wiffle’s most prestigious club!
