Happy Summer, Wifflers! Now that Memorial Day has come and gone, it’s (un)officially the start of summer.
Summer around these parts means wiffleball. Wiffleball equals happiness.
It’s just science.
We’re just 7 weeks away from the 40th Anniversary of the World Wiffle® Ball Championship in Midlothian, IL on July 20-21. More urgently, we’re less than 72 hours away from this Saturday’s (June 1) initial t-shirt deadline for your registration to guarantee each member of your team a t-shirt.
Chicago Cubs Shouting Out WWBC Teams
During the May 10 Cubs-Brewers game, Len Kasper and Jim Deshaies had some blowout banter about the WWBC!
Specifically, they were discussing the Super 20 Wiffle® Ball Teams on Planet Earth from Illinois. Here’s a grainy video of it. It was a great moment for us, as well as for some of our elite Illinois teams: the Bloomfield Bombers, Woo Crew, Lombard Lightning, Loweriders, and The Cousins, who the guys shouted out by name.
Eight States Represented
We already have registrants from eight states for the 40th World Wiffle® Ball Championship, which we are very proud of. We’d love to get delegates from at least half of our 50 states, but we suppose we’ll settle for a quarter this year.
South Suburban Humane Society Adoption Event
On May 19, we went to the PetSmart in Tinley Park, IL to support our charity partner, the South Suburban Humane Society. We were able to get to know some great dogs, and helped get two of them adopted!
As always, we remain grateful for the support of our Wifflers for playing in the WWBC, because it’s thanks to you that we can help a great cause and some deserving animals. One of the pups (Church – above left) and many other animals are still looking for a home, so if interested in adopting, check out the available animals here.
