Six months from today, the 40th World Wiffle® Ball Champion will be crowned.
In the months ahead, we will be outlining some of the special events that we are working on for the 40th edition of the world’s oldest Wiffle® Ball bash. We hope to bring together today’s and future stars with those of the past, to celebrate the evolution of the WWBC from the first gathering of eight teams at College Park in Mishawaka, Indiana, to the spectacle of over 50 teams competing for a World Championship at Memorial Park in Midlothian, Illinois.
In case you missed our announcement back in October, we are thrilled to continue our relationship with the Midlothian Parks District over the next five years. The 40th Anniversary will take place on July 20-21, 2019 at Memorial Park. You can register now at worldwiffleball.org.
The $149 entry fee includes t-shirts for each participant, a minimum of four games on Saturday during round-robin play, and an opportunity to qualify for Sunday’s single-elimination tournament.
Proceeds from the 2019 WWBC will again benefit the South Suburban Humane Society in Chicago Heights, Illinois. Last year with your help, we were able to raise $2,100 to help animals in need. We cannot thank you enough, and hope that you will help us top that this year by participating in the Home Run Derby (more to come in future newsletters) and referring a new team to join in the fun.
Through April 15, 2019, anyone who refers a team that did not participate in the 2018 WWBC, will receive a $30 referral refund. The new team also will receive the refund. Teams are eligible to receive one refund.
How to qualify for the refund:
- Both teams must sign up and submit payment before April 15, 2019.
- The team with which you have the referral agreement must be filled in on the entry form.
- The new team must consist of at least four players who did not participate in the 2018 WWBC.
Our hope is that new teams, as well as teams from the past, will take advantage of this opportunity. Who wouldn’t want to see Dud’s Gang, The Homeboys, and the Blue Ribbon Builders back for the 40th?
Once a month, we’ll provide you with an update on what we are working on for the 40th Anniversary festivities. Next month, we will begin highlighting some of the current stars of the WWBC and share their thoughts on today’s rivalries, classic games, and more.
If there is something you would like to see in future newsletters, or have questions about the tournament, let us know. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or reach out to us on Twitter and Facebook @WorldWiffleball.
