On July 14-15, 2018, 51 teams, from 10 states, traveled for the first time to Memorial Park in Midlothian, Illinois for the 39th edition of the World Wiffle® Ball Championship.  After receiving positive reviews from the players, the press, and other attendees, we are happy to announce that Midlothian will be our home for the considerable future.

Midlothian Parks District and the World Wiffle® Ball Championship have agreed to a 5-year deal to keep the tournament at Memorial Park through 2023.  The 40th Anniversary tournament will be held on July 20-21, 2019.

“We couldn’t be happier to cement a long-term relationship with the Midlothian Parks District,” said World Wiffle® Ball Championship co-commissioner, Mike Baniak.  “The fields, location, concessions, and community make the MPD an ideal partner for the WWBC.  We look forward to watching the tournament grow over at least the next five years.”

Memorial Park proved to be an ideal complex for the WWBC, with five softball diamonds (allowing for the potential formation of up to 30 wiffleball fields), an exceptional concession stand, and the tremendous assistance of the MPD staff.

“The Midlothian Park District is very excited to have the World Wiffle® Ball Championship come back to Memorial Park,” said Midlothian Park District Superintendent of Recreation, Jennifer Yuska. “This tournament allows people of all ages to play together in a family friendly environment, which is very important to the park district.  We look forward to being the home of the World Wiffle® Ball Championship for many years to come.”

Teams, with up to five players, can register for the 40th World Wiffle® Ball Championship at www.worldwiffleball.org.  The $149 entry free guarantees at least four games during round-robin play on Saturday, and t-shirts for each player.

For the remainder of 2018, the WWBC will provide a $30 “referral refund” (equating to a $119 entry fee) both to returning/new teams that refer a team that did not participate in the 2018 tournament (with at least four players who did not participate) to enter, and to the new team that has been referred.  On the entry form, there will be a space to enter the team with whom you have the referral agreement.  Please note, that both teams must register by December 31, 2018 to qualify for the refund.

The 2018 tournament raised $2,100 for the South Suburban Humane Society in Chicago Heights, Illinois, and proceeds from the 40th WWBC will again be donated to the shelter.
